Peer Mentoring Program

The primary goal of our peer mentoring program is to support the personal and academic development and achievement of women students in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Undergraduate students are matched with more experienced undergraduate students or graduate students according to their answers in the mentor/mentee application. This structure provides students with the opportunity to help their peers create stronger connections to the university community and its resources as well as have increasingly positive experiences in and outside of the classroom.

Once students are matched, we will host monthly meetings for mentors and mentees. This will guarantee both are benefiting from the program. In these monthly meetings, graduate students and invited female faculty will give a talk about their current research.

What are the benefits?

Protégés benefit personally and professionally from the insight and guidance of their more experienced Peer Mentors. Benefits to Peer Mentors include knowing that they are making meaningful contributions to the development of their peers while experiencing continued growth themselves. Benefits for everyone also include belonging to a fun and dynamic group that celebrates their successes and helps them triumph over their challenges!

This website is designed to inform students, faculty and staff of the many mentoring resources available as you build meaningful mentoring relationships with others. If you are a faculty, staff, or peer mentor, this website can provide you with helpful information to enhance the mentoring relationship you have with your mentee or protégé. If you are someone seeking a mentor, we hope to give you some direction on how to find one.
